DJI FLIR Zenmuse XT2 Thermal Camera – 336×256 30Hz 9mm

The Zenmuse XT2 Visual & Thermal Imaging Camera from FLIR builds upon the thermal sensor technology of its predecessor and adds a 4K visual camera to the loadout for high-resolution imaging and thermal mapping in a single flight. The built-in gimbal and FLIR sensor can support a display resolution of 336 x 256 with a 30 Hz frame rate to be viewed with DJI Pilot software for efficient monitoring of energy output, fire fighting, and searching for missing people.
Onboard machine intelligence and a 9mm camera lens pinpoint visual characteristics of your choice for intuitive video monitoring without lengthy processing. 4K UHD video and 12MP still images can be captured by the device and stored in a compatible microSD card for review. A rugged IP44 design ensures use in various inclement conditions, making the XT2 ideal for emergency response situations where waiting isn’t an option.

With which DJI drones are XT2 cameras and gimbals compatible? Compatible drones are available from Drone Nerds: the M200, M210 and M210RTK quadcopters, plus the M600 hexcopter.
How does the XT2 record both thermal and visual images? Each XT2 has a FLIR Tau 2 thermal sensor and a separate Zenmuse visual senor. Each sensor has its own lens.
Can I shoot visual and thermal imagery simultaneously? Yes, since each set of sensors and lenses is separate within the case.
Must I view visual and thermal data separately? No. The XT2 allows simultaneous display of thermal and visual data and offers a choice of how the data is displayed using the camera’s Picture-in-Picture capability. It is possible to arrange the two sets of data in a way that best suits your needs. FLIR MSX allows superimposition of visual data atop thermal data to speed data interpretation.
Is it difficult to discern one level of heat from another? The XT2 helps you. Different temperatures appear in different hues—and you can adjust the color palette to make differentiation more obvious. You can also view isotherms that define swaths of heat.
What happens if the heat being recorded changes significantly? Pre-set parameters and the XT2 Temp Alarm will alert you of a change.
Can the XT2 track heat as well as sense it? Yes. The XT2 can lock onto the hottest point in view and record changes.
Can the XT2 track moving objects? Yes. Just lock on.
Can XT2 track objects or suspects at night? Yes. Lock on a subject and the drone will follow, and the thermal camera allows subjects to be seen in the dark.
How does the XT2 see the invisible? It actually senses heat sources and records the heat levels.
How does the camera detect survivors in a disaster? The XT2 senses heat under rubble after an explosion or a building collapse, or under snow after an avalanche. It is not a replacement for rescue dogs; it is an aid to canine rescue teams.
How can the XT2 help to keep firefighters safe? By sensing and displaying heat inside a wall or under a roof, the XT2 helps firefighters decide where to attack a blaze and where to vent. It also can sense hotspots during a fire or after fire is brought under control.
Can XT2 find people hiding in dense vegetation? It can sense the heat given off by bodies in dense brush or wooded areas. It also can help to find people lost in wooded areas.
Is video shake-free? Yes. A stabilizing 3-axis motorized gimbal cancels out drone movement and vibration.
Are the lenses interchangeable? No, each lens is fixed. Compatible drones allow visual cameras with interchangeable lenses to be added.
Do the XT2 lenses zoom? No. Because the XT2 is compatible with drones that allow camera interchangeability, a visual camera equipped with a zoom-lens can be added.
How can I get close-up images with the XT2? In some cases, you can fly nearer to the subject with the drone on which the XT2 is mounted. You can also return to base and mount a camera with a telephoto lens.
Can I fly in rain? Light rain, yes. The XT2, which is engineered to an IP44 level rating, can be used in light rain as long as it is mounted to a drone that is similarly capable. The compatible M200 and M210 series drones can be flown in light rain.
Does thermal imaging assist in low-light flying? Yes.
Can camera functions be accessed remotely? DJI Pilot, a professional-level Android-compatible flight-control program, allows you to set SpotlightPro flight modes, set the area for Temp Alarm, adjust onscreen temperature measurements, and perform all thermal-related settings, including isotherms and color palate adjustments.
