WHO NEEDS THIS COURSE

Purchasing Equipment
Lidar is very different from other drone remote sensing systems. Good training can mean the difference between weeks of experimentation or going out and working.

Renting Equipment
Some of our manufacturers and partners have rental programs. All of them require training before they rent a piece of company equipment for the first time.

Educational Partners
As a commercial partner, we support both faculty with their research grants and local community vocational education. Talk to MODUS about educational programs.
TWO OPTIONS TO SCHEDULE THIS COURSE
TRAINING EVENTS
We are starting to offer this as an event course at several locations around the US.

Professional Training by Professional
Lets face it, LiDAR is not like using a camera drone. This 2-day course is for people who know what system they want to use and want to get out right away with a rental or purchased system and make money.

Trouble shooting
We don’t just teach you how to use the system, we teach you how to fault isolate and correct mistakes. We realize you can’t call tech support from the field and we believe if we train you right , you will never have to call.

Easy Step By Step Processes
All our training breaks down each task in the workflow into short easy to understand modules. You don’t have to be a geo-spatial scientist or a surveyor to understand. Just follow our checklists and learning aids.
FAQ
What are your Instructor Credentials
We are really proud of our instructors.
Drone Flight Instructor
Our fully certified drone pilots have flown commercial drones and military helicopters over 10 years and conducting precision data collection. Learn how to properly collect lidar, fly safe, and best flight practices from real experts.
Remote Sensing Geospatial Expert
We will try to send analysts that match your industry. Our experts have been developing workflows for the government but go around the world at a national level teaching professionals how to use these technologies to change.
What Equipment Will Use?
Hardware
- We bring one drone lidar system with all the equipment a company will bring to the field.
Software
- We present all the software to plan, fly, collect, compile, check accuracy, view, and post-process.
How many Seats in the class?
Class size: While we do not have a maximum audience size, the more attendees the less experience our customers tend to receive.
Pricing in San Diego is set to 4 seats with an extra fee for larger classrooms if needed.
We recommend eight to one student to instructor ratio at the maximum.
We suggest limiting the demonstration to company decision-makers and technical experts, who would gain the most from a first-hand experience prior to purchasing our services
Can you come to our offices?
Of course, we can. Depending on the number of staff and travel commitments, this can really challenge to travel to attend a 2-day course.
Extra fees will apply for instructor travel, per diem, and shipping of the equipment.
Also, we will need the following from the hosting company.
Presentation Space
Half of the course is classroom presentations of the technology, workflow, and data products.
A presentation space adequate for the number of people attending:
- Presentation Table for a 3-foot diameter drone
- HDMI UHD TV
- A power source for laptops and drones
Safe Flying Area
Flight Demonstrations require safe flight area. This area should include:
- Features you want to be captured. (Forrest, power lines, etc)
- Outside of Controlled Airspace.
- Property Owner Approval.
- Sparsely populated area.
- The optimum area (10 – 40 acres or 1 mile of river, etc)
How long are the days?
We try to pack a lot into a day so you get the most value.
Typically we like to start at 8 am and end at 5 pm. We plan for a one hour lunch.
However, some groups like to ask a lot of questions, which we think is awesome. For these groups, we will stay as long as they need to learn the material.
Can you do weekend classes?
Yes, we can provide weekend classes.
Do you have this course online?
Not yet, This is a hands-on practical course. While we have a syllabus, slides, and instructor notes… much of the learning happens interactively.
With that said, we are working on providing prerequisite online materials to shorten this course and give more value.
if you are looking for online materials, check out our Lidar University section.
Can I take this course with another group?
From time to time we do offer public events.
However, this is professional training for professional companies looking for a competitive advantage. Often we discuss sensitive information for that company. We want these discussions to help our customers. We respect our client’s intellectual property and don’t offer concurrent training with multiple companies.
